Teague Pottery

The Teague family goes back a long way in North Carolina and Seagrove pottery history, beginning with John Wesley Teague in the later 1800s. Descendant Duck Teague opened and ran a shop in nearby Robbins on Hwy. 27 for years, and his daughter Zedith carried on the business after his death in 1983. Charlie Teague is said to have been the first potter for the Busbees at Jugtown in the early 1920s. Jim Teague turned pottery before turning to cattle and poultry farming in the 1950s and 60s; his son Archie, now deceased, also took up the pottery businsss as did daughter Laura who is still actively turning today in Seagrove, in the Westmoore Community.
